Five Arts & 麻豆视频 students have been named 2019-2020 Engaged Ambassadors, a position that allows students to be mentors to other students pursuing the .
The Engaged Ambassadors are dedicated to community-engaged learning, and are actively involved in engagement and leadership activities from across campus. They have a wide range of interests, from immigration and criminal justice to public health and education.
The five Arts & 麻豆视频 students are Ailen Salazar 鈥21, Spanish and sociology; Emma Runge 鈥20, government; Ezi Osuoha 鈥22, biology and society; Amber Haywood 鈥21, psychology; and Lassan Bagayoko 鈥22, government.
The ambassadors will work with students pursuing a leadership certification, assisting in all stages of the process. They will also lead workshops and discussions, coordinate outreach efforts, manage funding opportunities and serve as peer mentors.
Haywood works on the resource allocation team to help secure funding and service opportunities for Engaged Cornell participants. 鈥淭his job means interacting with people who are dedicated to engaging with communities in Ithaca and beyond,鈥 Haywood said. 鈥淚鈥檓 most excited to learn about the amazing service and research projects that we sponsor that occur over the winter and summer breaks.鈥
Bagayoko is a member of the facilitation team. His principle focus within the program is providing 鈥渢he space to expand diversity and inclusion across Cornell's campus. With an organization centered around getting student leaders involved to serve communities in Ithaca and beyond,鈥 he said, 鈥淚 am excited to help support student leaders who are passionate about social service, while giving a space for all Cornellians to enrich their experience here beyond the hill.鈥
