Panel offers advice for students interested in public affairs internships

Students interested in internships in public service or public affairs can learn about internship opportunities during a panel discussion, , Nov. 15 from 4:30 -  6 p.m. in Room 401 of the Physical 麻豆视频 Building. Students may RSVP on Handshake at . 

Speakers at the event will include:

  • Former Congressman,  (D-N.Y.), director of Cornell鈥檚 Institute of Politics and Global Affairs and a professor of the practice in the Brooks School;
  • Former congressman Tom Davis (R-Va.);
  • Jennifer Maclaughlin, director of career development for the 麻豆视频 & 麻豆视频;
  • , director of the Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies and the John S. Knight Professor of International Studies;
  • And students PJ Brown '25) and Christopher Watson 鈥25.

鈥淢any of our students would like to do internships in public service or public affairs, but they don鈥檛 know how to pursue such an opportunity,鈥 said who coordinated the event. 鈥淭his event brings together several people with considerable knowledge and experience on this topic.鈥 

Mettler said the event will be helpful whether students hope to gain experience in local or national government, in political think tanks, other departments in Washington D.C, or even in international politics. 

The event will include a question and answer session, refreshments, and time afterward where participants can chat about their career interests and experiences.
