The Cornell and Ithaca communities can see a unique blend of mime and mathematics during two days of events planned by the Cornell Department of Mathematics to celebrate April as . The math-themed events and speakers are scheduled on April 19 and 20.
The will feature , the Joseph R. Morton Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science at Davidson College and the Museum of Mathematics. Scheduled for Friday, April 19 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., in Schwartz Auditorium, Rockefeller Hall, Chartier, renowned for his expertise in sports analytics, will talk about bracketology (predicting outcomes in brackets such as the March Madness basketball schedules) and innovative mathematics performances.
The celebration continues on Saturday, April 20, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m with workshops suitable for both adults and families at , 102 Cherry St., in Ithaca. There will also be "Mime-matics" performances featuring Chartier and his wife, Tanya, who will blend mathematics and miming for a unique experience.
